(Chapter 1)

In this chapter, Gerald is three years old. And he was caught playing with the fire from his mother's lighter. I have came to an understanding of realizing that his mother is very abusive. She held his hand over the fire, just to teach him a lesson. But Gerald did not learn his lesson. He played with his mother's lighter, and the curtain caught on fire. Which caused the house to catch on fire. If the mother had never left the three year old boy at home alone, then it never would have happened. The poor boy was board. And so to entertain his self. He found something to keep him busy, which was to play with his mother's lighter.
